TAN Glossary

Below you’ll find a list of commonly-used Travel Advantage Network (TAN) terminology to help you better understand and use your travel package.

Pre-paid Week

Your Pre-paid Week entitles you to a one-bedroom unit that will sleep up to four people during non-prime season. A processing fee will be collected for each week that is booked. If your base program is paid in full, you are free to use your Pre-paid Weeks as often as you desire.

Express Week

An Express Week includes a one-bedroom unit that will sleep up to four people during non-peak season. A processing fee will be collected for each booked Express Week.

Vacation Assurance Program (VAP)

Vacation Assurance Program is a program available at the time of booking which allows you to cancel a reservation and not lose all fees invested. The amount of refunded fees is dependent on the amount of notice given to Travel Advantage Network before the travel date.

Processing Fee

A Processing Fee is a required fee collected in order to book a Pre-paid, Express, or Excess Inventory vacation. If VAP is purchased at the time of booking, this fee is refundable, depending on the amount of cancellation notice provided to Travel Advantage Network. If you need to cancel a booking, with VAP, the Processing Fee is usually applied as a credit to your account towards your next reservation.

Upgrade Fee

The Upgrade Fee is charged to clients making reservations in two-bedroom units or larger. Your Travel Advantage Network Pre-paid or Express Week is for a one-bedroom unit. If you request additional bedrooms, the upgrade fee applies.

Prime Season Fee

The Prime Season Fee is charged for travel during the most popular times of the year. Please refer to the Seasonality Guide, which lists seasons for each of Travel Advantage Network’s resort areas. If you travel during prime season, you will be charged the prime season fee. This fee is not charged for an Excess Inventory week, regardless of when you travel.

Discount Prime Fee

The Value Season Fee is charged for travel during the time of year where the area is in limbo between prime and standard season. Instead of paying prime season fees during this time period, there is a decreased fee of $15 per day. Please refer to the Seasonality Guide, which lists seasons for each of Travel Advantage Network’s resort areas. This fee is not charged for an Excess Inventory week or Hot Weeks, regardless of when you travel.

Annual Service Charge

The Annual Service Charge (ASC) is a fee due every year to keep your Travel Advantage Network account active and in good standing, and maintain access to Travel Advantage Network’s many benefits.

Monthly Service Charge

The Monthly Service Charge (MSC) is the same fee as the Annual Service Charge, but divided into monthly payments. To arrange for the Monthly Service Charge Program, please call Account Management at 800.925.5108.

Bonus Weeks

Bonus Weeks are non-Travel Advantage Network timeshare vacation week(s) placed into Travel Advantage Network’s inventory. All fees at the timeshare resort must be current in order for the week to be placed into TAN’s inventory. For each timeshare week banked with Travel Advantage Network, the timeshare owner receives two (2) one-bedroom vacation weeks in return.
